Hey T Casey,

Thanks for the feedback. I think you're asking for slightly more than two things. But nevertheless I do need to sit down and come up with what you're suggesting. I will not be able to fit them ALL into one post, and I may have to resort to video rather than the written word. Either way, I'll get on that ASAP! Thanks... oh and sorry for wasting your time!

Hey Eric,

First off, thanks for the "Dr." title, even though I know I don't deserve it!

I'm in the process of putting together some videos that I'll post on places like YouTube. I'll add these to the list and let everyone know when they're online.

Thanks

This post would have been much more constructive if you had dione two things. #1 - Describe the drill(s) you think are a waste. Include what each particular drill is trying to accomplish, and conclude by explaining why, in your opinion, the drill is flawed. #2 - Provide your subscribers will a description of drills that you feel actually are beneficial. What works, what doesn't, and why. Otherwise your post is (to use your words) "busy work" and a "waste of time".

But without drills how will they sell all of those gimick drill items???? The bat velocity tester, one of my favorites, if a kid swings fast does this mean he is a good hitter? Some "skill work" is needed, but as you said, it better be something that you'll do in a game, otherwise why are we doing it? With my old man we sure didn't do a whole lot of drill work as kids did we? Hop

Having pitched in the Mets organization from 1972-1978 I was taught how to do things by doing them. Curveball rotation was worked on by throwing curveballs not by some stupid towel drill that my pitchers tell me they are doing. I can still throw a better curveball than any of them and I am 57 years old. But they don't get it. So I too smile at them and say "that's nice, oh the towel drill, is it working for you?" Then I have them actually throw curveballs and the old way of improving by doing always ends up being the tried and true way.
Keep up the good work Coach. Your postings give me hope...
